Psalm 29:1-2 (NKJV):

Give unto the Lord, O you mighty ones,

Give unto the Lord glory and strength.

Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name;

Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

Almighty Father, Holy One in whom there is no darkness, and with whom evil cannot dwell, have mercy on us, your sinful and faltering people. Forgive us our many sins, the sins we know and the sins hidden from our own conscience. Grant us such a living faith that this day we may receive and rest upon your Son as our perfect and all-sufficient Savior. By your Spirit renew in us a true repentance that we turn away from sin and delight to do your commandments. May we with gratitude for your grace worship you acceptably and with awe this day, and may your peace fill our hearts. For we ask this in the name of Jesus, your Son, our great Savior and King. Amen.

Verses of Assurance: 1 John 1:5-7 (NKJV)

This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

How Great Thou Art (Trinity Hymnal 44)

1 O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder

Consider all the worlds thy hand hath made,

I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,

Thy pow'r throughout the universe displayed;

Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee;

How great thou art! How great thou art!

Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee;

How great thou art! How great thou art!

2 When through the woods and forest glades I wander,

And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;

When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur

And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze; [Refrain]

3 And when I think that God, his Son not sparing,

Sent him to die, I scarce can take it in,

That on the cross my burden gladly bearing,

He bled and died to take away my sin; [Refrain]

4 When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,

And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!

Then I shall bow in humble adoration

And there proclaim, "My God, how great thou art!" [Refrain]

Scripture Lesson: Psalm 1 (NKJV)

1 Blessed is the man

Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,

Nor stands in the path of sinners,

Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,

And in His law he meditates day and night.

3 He shall be like a tree

Planted by the rivers of water,

That brings forth its fruit in its season,

Whose leaf also shall not wither;

And whatever he does shall prosper.

4 The ungodly are not so,

But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.

5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,

Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

6 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous,

But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Now unto Jehovah, Ye Sons of the Mighty (Trinity Hymnal 45)

1 Now unto Jehovah, ye sons of the mighty,

all glory and strength and dominion accord;

ascribe to him glory, and render him honor,

in beauty of holiness worship the Lord,

in beauty of holiness worship the Lord.

2 The voice of Jehovah comes down on the waters;

in thunder the God of the glory draws nigh.

Lo, over the waves of the wide-flowing waters

Jehovah as King is enthroned on high!

Jehovah as King is enthroned on high!

3 The voice of Jehovah is mighty, is mighty;

The voice of Jehovah in majesty speaks:

The voice of Jehovah the cedars is breaking;

Jehovah the cedars of Lebanon breaks,

Jehovah the cedars of Lebanon breaks.

4 Each one, in His temple, His glory proclaimeth.

He sat on the flood; he is King on his throne.

Jehovah all strength to his people imparteth;

Jehovah with peace ever blesseth his own,

Jehovah with peace ever blesseth his own

O Lord our God, Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer of your people, look upon us in your compassion. Strengthen our faith in your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Give us grace to heed his instructions and to keep his commandments. Keep us from the temptation to follow the ways of this unbelieving world and to give heed to those who scoff at your decrees. Make our delight to be in you, our God, and in your good and liberating law.

Keep, protect and sanctify your people in this land and throughout the world. Deliver your saints from those who would harm them. Let your people assemble in freedom and peace to worship you. Restrain evil governments who oppose your kingdom and impede the preaching of the gospel of your Son. Grant success to our missionaries that your Kingdom may fill the whole earth.

Give to our President, our Congress and our Courts that wisdom that sees the beauty of your law and that turns away from the perversions of the evil one. Confound those who use the public office and power of the media to advocate evil in the disguise of good. Make your law of love and righteousness to fill the hearts of our public leaders and our fellow citizens.

Make us bold to proclaim your Son as the only Savior and Lord, the Son of Righteousness with healing in his wings. Heal our nation by turning our people to you, the one true God, through your Son our Savior. Give wisdom and clarity to every pastor that the good news of your Son may be proclaimed in the pulpits of this land. Fill your people with love for you and for one another, that our lives as well as our lips may bear witness to your Son as the only Redeemer from that inner evil that plagues us. Let the peace of your Son, the Christ, fill our land.

In our troubles, help us to trust in you and to believe that you work all things for our salvation. Make us fruitful in our labors and provide us with our needs for this life. Heal us of our diseases and bring us safely through the troubles of this life into eternal life with you, our Heavenly Father, and with your Son and with your Spirit.

Hear us as we pray as Jesus taught us to pray:

“Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”

Under the Care of My God, the Almighty (Trinity Hymnal 84)

1 Under the care of my God, the Almighty,

safe in the secret place of the Most High!

He is my refuge, the Lord is my fortress,

him I am trusting when trouble is nigh.

Under his wings, under his wings,

safe in the refuge hide thee;

trusting his truth and faithfulness,

no evil can betide thee.

2 Be not afraid for the terror of midnight,

nor for the arrow that hasteth to slay;

fear not the pestilence walking in darkness,

nor the destroyer that wasteth by day. [Refrain]

3 Seek the Most High for thy sure habitation,

unto Jehovah for refuge now fly;

there shall no evil befall thee nor harm thee,

unto thy dwelling no plague shall come nigh. [Refrain]

4 Love thou the Lord, surely he will deliver;

he will exalt thee and answer thy prayer;

he will be with thee to honor and give thee

life without end, his salvation to share. [Refrain]
