Call to Worship: Psalm 7:17

I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness,

And will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High. Psalm 7:17 (NKJV):

Prayer: Gracious Heavenly Father, we praise you that through your Son you have given us victory over sin and death. We confess that we have sinned and still sin. For the sake of your Son, forgive us our sins and by your Spirit rule in our hearts that we may worship and serve you. O Ancient of Days, reign over us, preserving us through all the troubles of this life and bringing us safely into your kingdom. And may we love and adore you with your Son and your Spirit for eternity. Amen

Verse of Assurance: Colossians 1:13-14

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise (Trinity Hymnal 38)

1 Immortal, invisible, God only wise,

in light inaccessible hid from our eyes,

most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,

almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise.

2 Unresting, unhasting and silent as light,

nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might;

thy justice like mountains high soaring above

thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.

3 Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,

thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight;

all praise we would render; O help us to see

'tis only the splendor of light hideth thee!

Scripture Lesson: Isaiah 45:1-13 (NKJV):

1 “Thus says the Lord to His anointed,

To Cyrus, whose right hand I have held –

To subdue nations before him

And loose the armor of kings,

To open before him the double doors,

So that the gates will not be shut:

2 ‘I will go before you

And make the crooked places straight;

I will break in pieces the gates of bronze

And cut the bars of iron.

3 I will give you the treasures of darkness

And hidden riches of secret places,

That you may know that I, the Lord,

Who call you by your name,

Am the God of Israel.

4 For Jacob My servant’s sake,

And Israel My elect,

I have even called you by your name;

I have named you, though you have not known Me.

5 I am the Lord, and there is no other;

There is no God besides Me.

I will gird you, though you have not known Me,

6 That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting

That there is none besides Me.

I am the Lord, and there is no other;

7 I form the light and create darkness,

I make peace and create calamity;

I, the Lord, do all these things.’

8 “Rain down, you heavens, from above,

And let the skies pour down righteousness;

Let the earth open, let them bring forth salvation,

And let righteousness spring up together.

I, the Lord, have created it.

9 “Woe to him who strives with his Maker!

Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth!

Shall the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’

Or shall your handiwork say, ‘He has no hands’?

10 Woe to him who says to his father, ‘What are you begetting?’

Or to the woman, ‘What have you brought forth?’ ”

11 Thus says the Lord,

The Holy One of Israel, and his Maker:

“Ask Me of things to come concerning My sons;

And concerning the work of My hands, you command Me.

12 I have made the earth,

And created man on it.

I – My hands – stretched out the heavens,

And all their host I have commanded.

13 I have raised him up in righteousness,

And I will direct all his ways;

He shall build My city

And let My exiles go free,

Not for price nor reward,”

Says the Lord of hosts.

Prayer and Lord’s Prayer:

Almighty and Merciful Heavenly Father, on your help we depend and to you we look for health and strength, for forgiveness and renewal and for perseverance and protection. Defend our souls from the inner plague of sin and from the deceits of the devil. Strengthen our faith to trust in you and in your Son. Deliver your people from governments that would oppress them, and from the followers of false religions that would harm them. By your Spirit make effective the work of our missionaries, and the witness of your people throughout the world.

Give to our President, our Governor and all those in authority wisdom in this time of difficulty. Make their efforts effective in restraining the spread of this disease and bring this pandemic to an end. In our isolation, set our hearts on you and make our delight to be in you, for you are our heritage our very great reward. Grant to us faith to trust you and to know that you work all things for the good of your chosen people.

Hear us as we pray as Jesus taught us to pray:

“Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”

Before Jehovah's Awesome Throne (Trinity Hymnal 65)

1 Before Jehovah's awesome throne,

all nations, bow with sacred joy;

know that the Lord is God alone,

he can create, and he destroy -

he can create, and he destroy.

2 His sovereign pow'r without our aid,

made us of dust and formed us men;

and when like wand'ring sheep we strayed,

he brought us to his fold again -

he brought us to his fold again.

3 We are his people, we his care,

our souls and all our mortal frame:

what lasting honors shall we rear,

almighty Maker, to your name? -

almighty Maker, to your name?

4 We'll crowd your gates with thankful songs,

high as the heav'ns our voices raise;

and earth, with her ten thousand tongues,

shall fill your courts with sounding praise -

shall fill your courts with sounding praise.

5 Wide as the world is your command,

vast as eternity your love;

firm as a rock your truth must stand,

when rolling years shall cease to move -

when rolling years shall cease to move.

To Our Church Family and Friends

In light of the Covid-19 crisis, a Session meeting was called. After much prayer and consideration, the Session decided to comply wholeheartedly with the CDC recommendations,in order to do our part in combating the spread of the virus.  We are convinced that this is what we must do in order to love our neighbors as ourselves.  It was decided to cancel all of our Bible Studies, Youth Groups, Choir and Sunday School.

We will not be conducting worship services in the church building.  At the present time, we are developing a worship service that can be conducted at home.  There will be online resources for this service and an order of worship available to you.  These materials should be ready for you by Saturday and posted on our website,  and on the church Facebook page.

We recognize this is not an ideal circumstance for worship for the church as a whole.  In the current circumstance, it is what we can do.  We will make adjustments to this service as we learn.

Please be in prayer for one another and patient with us as we find our way through this crisis.  Please keep the leaders of the church in your prayers and the leaders of our nation, as well.

As always, please reach out to an Elder with any questions.

Thank you.

In Christ,

Rev.  Dave Kenyon
