Welcome Call to Worship Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. Psalm 95:1–2 (NKJV) Hymn # 296 All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name!
1 All hail the pow'r of Jesus' name! Let angels prostrate fall; bring forth the royal diadem, and crown him Lord of all; bring forth the royal diadem, and crown him Lord of all. 2 Crown him, ye martyrs of your God, who from his altar call; extol the Stem of Jesse's rod, and crown him Lord of all; extol the Stem of Jesse's rod, and crown him Lord of all. 3 Ye seed of Israel's chosen race, ye ransomed of the fall, hail him who saves you by his grace, and crown him Lord of all; hail him who saves you by his grace, and crown him Lord of all. 4 Sinners, whose love can ne'er forget the wormwood and the gall, go, spread your trophies at his feet, and crown him Lord of all; go, spread your trophies at his feet, and crown him Lord of all. 5 Let ev'ry kindred, ev'ry tribe, on this terrestrial ball, to him all majesty ascribe, and crown him Lord of all; to him all majesty ascribe, and crown him Lord of all. 6 O that with yonder sacred throng we at his feet may fall; we'll join the everlasting song, and crown him Lord of all; we'll join the everlasting song, and crown him Lord of all. Call To Confession I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You In a time when You may be found. Psalm 32:5–6 (NKJV)
Confession of Sins Let us, therefore, confess our sin, saying together: “Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is always before me... Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities” through Jesus your Son. Amen. Word of Assurance Brothers and Sisters, your sins have been forgiven according to God’s promise that “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness... for we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins.” (1 John 1:9, 2;1-2) Song of Renewal
Gracious God my heart renew, Make my spirit right and true; Cast me not away from thee, Let thy Spirit dwell in me; Thy salvation's joy impart. Steadfast make my willing heart. #486, stanza 5 (Ps 51:10-11) Scripture Lessons: 2 Corinthians 5:18–6:2 (NKJV): 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 6:1 We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. 2 For He says:“In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you. ”Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. Sermon Hymn # 500 Rock of Ages
1 Rock of Ages, cleft for me let me hide myself in thee; let the water and the blood, from thy riven side which flowed, be of sin the double cure, cleanse me from its guilt and pow'r. 2 Not the labors of my hands can fulfil thy law's demands; could my zeal no respite know, could my tears for ever flow, all for sin could not atone; thou must save, and thou alone. 3 Nothing in my hand I bring, simply to thy cross I cling; naked, come to thee for dress; helpless, look to thee for grace; foul, I to the Fountain fly; wash me, Savior, or I die. 4 While I draw this fleeting breath, when mine eyelids close in death, when I soar to worlds unknown, see thee on thy judgment throne, Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in thee.
Prayer of the Church and the Lord’s Prayer
“Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”
Hymn # How Deep The Father's Love for Us (INSERT)
1 How deep the Father’s love for us, How vast beyond all measure, That He should give His only Son To make a wretch His treasure. How great the pain of searing loss – The Father turns His face away, As wounds which mar the Chosen One Bring many sons to glory.
2 Behold the man upon a cross, My sin upon His shoulders; Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice Call out among the scoffers. It was my sin that held Him there Until it was accomplished; His dying breath has brought me life – I know that it is finished.
3 I will not boast in anything, No gifts, no power, no wisdom; But I will boast in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection. Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer; But this I know with all my heart – His wounds have paid my ransom.
