Welcome

Call to Worship

Know that the Lord, He is God;

It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;

We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,

And into His courts with praise.

Psalm 100:3–4 (NKJV)

Hymn # 97 We Praise You, O God, our Redeemer, Creator

1 We praise you, O God, our Redeemer, Creator, in grateful devotion our tribute we bring. We lay it before you, we kneel and adore you; we bless your holy name, glad praises we sing. 2 We worship you, God of our fathers, we bless you; through life's storm and tempest our Guide you have been. When perils o'ertake us, escape you will make us, and with your help, O Lord, our battles we win. 3 With voices united our praises we offer, to you, great Jehovah, glad anthems we raise. Your strong arm will guide us, our God is beside us, to you, our great Redeemer, forever be praise.

Call To Confession

Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

Romans 12:9–14 (NKJV):

Out of the depths I have cried to You, O Lord;

Lord, hear my voice!

Let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.

If You, Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?

But there is forgiveness with You that You may be feared.

Psalm 130:1–4 (NKJV)

Confession of Sins

Let us, therefore, confess our sin, saying together:

Merciful Heavenly Father, pardon us our many sins; the sins we know and the sins hidden from our conscience. Cleanse us from wrong motives and forgive us for feeble obedience. By your Spirit renew our hearts to love you, our minds to know you, and our wills to obey you. For we ask this mercy in the name of your Son who ransomed us by his blood. Amen.

Word of Assurance

God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

Romans 5:8–9 (NKJV)

Song of Praise

Jesus, be endless praise to thee, whose boundless mercy hath for me - for me a full atonement made, an everlasting ransom paid.

Trinity Hymnal # 520, stanza 4

Scripture Lessons:

John 8:44 (NKJV)

44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

John 14:6 (NKJV):

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Sermon

Hymn # 706 Jesus Lives, and So Shall I

1 Jesus lives, and so shall I. Death! thy sting is gone forever! He who deigned for me to die, lives, the bands of death to sever. He shall raise me from the dust: Jesus is my hope and trust.

2 Jesus lives, and reigns supreme; and, his kingdom still remaining, I shall also be with him, ever living, ever reigning. God has promised; be it must: Jesus is my hope and trust.

3 Jesus lives, and by his grace, vict'ry o'er my passions giving, I will cleanse my heart and ways, ever to his glory living. Me he raises from the dust: Jesus is my hope and trust.

4 Jesus lives! I know full well naught from him my heart can sever, life nor death nor pow'rs of hell, joy nor grief, henceforth forever. None of all his saints is lost: Jesus is my hope and trust.

5 Jesus lives and death is now but my entrance into glory. Courage, then, my soul, for thou hast a crown of life before thee; thou shalt find thy hopes were just: Jesus is the Christian's trust.

Prayer of the Church and the Lord’s Prayer

“Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”

Hymn # 353 I Love Thy Kingdom, Lord

1 I love thy kingdom, Lord, the house of thine abode, the church our blest Redeemer saved with his own precious blood.

2 I love thy church, O God: her walls before thee stand, dear as the apple of thine eye, and graven on thy hand.

3 For her my tears shall fall, for her my prayers ascend; to her my cares and toils be giv'n, till toils and cares shall end.

4 Beyond my highest joy I prize her heav'nly ways, her sweet communion, solemn vows, her hymns of love and praise.

5 Jesus, thou Friend divine, Our Savior and our King, thy hand from ev'ry snare and foe shall great deliv'rance bring.

6 Sure as thy truth shall last, to Zion shall be giv'n the brightest glories earth can yield, and brighter bliss of heav'n.

Benediction
