ELDERS
Elders are ordained officers who share responsibility for the spiritual oversight and governance of the local church, following the New Testament pattern found in passages like 1 Timothy and Titus. Together, elders are charged with guarding the doctrinal purity of the church, exercising church discipline, overseeing worship, visiting and praying for members, caring for the spiritually weak or wandering, and representing the local congregation at higher courts of the church (presbytery and General Assembly).
